MOHAMEDIA

ROYAL GOLF CLUB

Created in the 1920’s, the Royal Golf Club of Mohammedia is considered as one of the most beautiful golf courses of the Kingdom. Located on the sea shore, 17 KM from Casablanca, it discloses the splendor of its 18 holes along the 5917 m that make up the course. Heavily bulbous because of its proximity to the sea, it requires some feats on the part of golfers, especially if their ball falls on the sand dunes which are covered with cactus.

UNIVERSITY GOLF CLUB

f it is built inside a race track, around a series of linked lakes; the rest is on higher ground. It’s an expansive course, of 3,215 meters, par 37, but one of simple design, with wide fairways, modest bunkering and large flat greens. It is significant for one major aspect, it is part of the University of Settat where 350 students study the sciences and commerce. But 120 of them each year also receive golf instruction and have unlimited access to the course.

RABAT

DAR ESSALAM ROYAL GOLF (45 holes)

It fully merits the 40 mile detour along the coastal highway from Rabat, where lies the most notable Moroccan creation of Robert Trent Jones Sr, that at Royal Dar Es-Salam Golf Club. This has three courses: a nine hole, the par-72 Blue Course of 6,205 meters, and the Red Course, a monster of 6,702 meters from the tiger tees. It’s regular venue for the Moroccan Open. Here, the short holes aside, virtually every fairway bends, all are tree-lined with bunkers at strategic points and two large lakes jointly influence five holes.

TANGIER

ROYAL GOLF CLUB

There are two courses in the northern region and they represent the two faces of Moroccan golf: one is venerable, the other, one of the newest. Royal Tangier, established at the turn of the century, was redesigned by Britain’s Frank Pennink in 1950. A typically English course set in a combination of valley and hills, it is redolent of many that Pennink designed: tree-lined, gently bending fairways, with old-fashioned saucer bunkers and large greens, rising from fairway level and with subtle variations in roll and break

Capo Negro, once a little fishing port, has now burgeoned into the largest of a cluster of resorts in the Bay of Tetouan, Smir, Restinga, Mdio and Martil. Anfa Royal Golf

Anfa Royal Golf is located in the heart of Casablanca, on the green hills of Anfa. (“Casablanca’s Beverly Hills”) Golfers and horse riders share the same space. It is 2710 m long and relatively easy golf course with a handicap of 35 suitable for advanced as well as beginners, which still requires some talent and imagination because of the presence of trees and flowers in the fairways.
